At Emory University, Pre-College participants get an authentic glimpse into the collegiate experience. Each Pre-College course (non-credit) is led by esteemed faculty members from Emory, ensuring a rigorous academic environment that mirrors actual college courses. Our credit-bearing courses are also attended by undergraduate students, providing an integrated educational experience.
Our coursework is an invaluable opportunity to learn life skills such as managing time effectively and balancing academic responsibilities with personal interests and social activities. International Students
Emory University welcomes international students to apply to the Pre-College Program. Emory is home to many students and scholars from around the world.
The University values the significant contributions these students and scholars make to campus learning. International visitors foster awareness of and respect for other cultures and bring unique perspectives into the classroom.
Important notes:
- If your VISA requires an appointment with the U.S. consulate in your home country, you are strongly encouraged to apply by May 1 to ensure your VISA is processed by the program start date.
- Any applicant who is NOT a US citizen or US Permanent Resident must apply as an international applicant.
Residential Vs. Commuter Students
On-Campus Residential Students
All students in noncredit courses are eligible. The Emory residential experience is safe and secure. Each student is given an access card to the residence hall, and no one can enter the building without an access card. Should any emergency arise, Emory Police are always available.- Housing fees and meal plans are included in the program cost.
- Reside in an air-conditioned community in Turman Hall or Hamilton Holmes Hall.
- Access to the communal refrigerator and laundry room (free of charge).
- Pre-assigned to a residence hall and roommate by the Residence Life staff.
- Supervision and academic support are provided by Resident Advisors, who are current Emory undergraduate students.
- Access to Emory’s state-of-the-art academic and recreational facilities.
Local Commuter Students
Summer College (Credit) Students
- Must live or have living arrangements in the metro Atlanta area.
Additional information regarding your living arrangements will be required. - Able to travel to and from campus each day for class.
Pre-College (Noncredit) Students
- Must live or have living arrangements in the metro Atlanta area.

- Access to the residence halls to visit peers until curfew.
11 pm on weeknights and midnight on weekends - Participate in all activities and excursions (included in program cost).
- Dining options are available on campus for students to purchase their meals.
- Access to Emory’s state-of-the-art academic and recreational facilities.
