Program Criteria & Eligibility

Apply if [you meet all criteria]:

Minimum 15 years of age by session start date
Current 10th or 11th graders in high school when completing the application
Highly motivated and committed to engaging in college-level work during the summer
Minimum GPA for admission is 3.0

do Not Apply if:

Currently in 9^th or 12^th grade
Younger than 15 years of age
Graduated from high school

International Applicants

Any applicant who is not a US citizen or US Permanent Resident must apply as an international applicant. This also applies to students currently attending a US high school.

Applicants whose primary language is not English must demonstrate fluency in written and spoken English. This can be shown by:

A 700+ on the SAT Evidence-based Reading and Writing
A 30+ on the ACT English subset

If the initial criteria are not met, one additional exam must be submitted, with the following acceptable scores:

If you do need meet the above SAT or ACT test score, you must submit one of the below test score.

TOEFL: 104 (iBT), C1 (TOEFL ITP), or 7.5 (IELTS)
For students in mainland China, a C1-level score on TOEFL ITP Plus is acceptable.

The highest score from multiple test sittings will be considered. Students may also submit SAT or ACT writing sections for proficiency.

Additionally, the Duolingo English Test (DET) can be submitted. Competitive applicants typically score above 130 out of 160. The video interview portion is not scored.

Application Checklist

Here is a brief description of what is required to complete your application. Please read all instructions and information in the online application.

$70 non-refundable application fee
Online application questionnaires (demographic, parent/guardian, educational information, course selection)
Unofficial or official high school transcript
- We do not accept report cards and progress notes in lieu of a transcript
Test scores: PSAT, PreACT, SAT or ACT scores are all acceptable standardized tests
- PreCollege Program (noncredit) Course: optional
- Summer College Program (credit) Course: required
Two recommendations from teachers and/or a guidance counselor

Note: Applicants will enter information for primary parent/guardian in the online application. The primary parent/guardian is required to complete the parental consent.

Things to know:

Complete applications are evaluated upon submission until classes are filled or deadline approaches.
Decision notifications are made (via email) on a rolling basis.
Apply early as classes fill quickly.

While Emory cannot guarantee program participants’ admission to Emory University for first-year or transfer admission, successful participation in a pre-college summer program may enhance a student’s portfolio for application to selective universities.
