Holiday Observances

Emory University observes June 19 (Juneteenth) and July 4 (Independence Day). Classes are not held on these days.

Optional programming will be available for students participating in the noncredit program only (commuters are welcome to all activities).

All enrolled Pre-College students who will be on campus during the summer are required to be fully compliant with all required vaccines and submit an immunization form to Student Health Services. 

All Students Must Have The Following Required Immunizations Prior to Enrollment 

  •  Meningococcal Vaccine ACWY 
    • ONE dose of Meningococcal conjugate or Meningococcal ACWY vaccine given after 16 years of age. Only required it living on campus. 
      • If you are having difficulty locating vaccine records, you can go to your healthcare provider and ask for lab tests to check immunity for MMR, Hep B, Varicella, and receive a Tetanus vaccine. If living on campus, a Meningococcal ACWY vaccine is also needed. If the lab reports indicate immunity, you can submit the lab reports, and documentation of your tetanus vaccine. 
  • Measles, Mumps, and Rubella 
    • Two doses of MMR vaccine Or  
    • Two doses of Measles, two doses of Mumps and one dose of Rubella  Or 
    • Lab tests indicating immunity to Measles, Mumps, and Rubella 
    • *First dose of MMR vaccine is valid at or after 1 year of age 
  • Tetanus-Diphtheria 
    • Series of THREE doses of Diphtheria and Tetanus Toxoid (DT or TD) within the last 10 years with one TDAP required at or after age 11 
  • Hepatitis B 
    • Complete series (3-dose) or 2 dose (Heplisav-B only available after 11/10/17) or a Quantitative Surface Antibody Lab test indicating immunity 
  • Varicella (Chicken Pox) 
    • Two doses of vaccine or lab test indicating immunity 
    • First dose of Varicella vaccine is valid at or after 1 year of age  
  • Tuberculosis 
    • All students need to complete the online TB Risk Screen under the required immunizations and forms found on the student patient portal: 
      • If any question is answered 'yes', a TB screening test is required within 6 months before the start of your program 
        • You will need to submit a QuantiFERON blood test. If unable to obtain a Quantiferon, a PPD (TB skin test) is acceptable. Please note: if the TB testing is positive, a Chest X-ray is required.
    • All International Students: Emory University requires a TB screening test within 6 months of the start of your program of all international students who have arrived in the United States from countries in which tuberculosis is endemic 

 

** COVID-19 vaccine is no longer a University requirement, currently. 

 Refer to theStudent Health Services Immunization Requirementswebsite for full details and access to the Student Patient Portal. You will need your NetID and password to log in the Student Patient Portal. Once in the Student patient portal, the below forms need to be completed. 

 The following required forms need to be completed by a parent/guardian:   

  1. Financial Policy Agreement  
  2. Treatment Agreement 
  3. Privacy Practices/Your Personal Preferences (FERPA)  
  4. Meningococcal Vaccination Acknowledgement (for On-Campus Residents only)   

These forms must be signed and sent by email to medicalrecords-shs@emory.edu.  

 Other required forms that the student can complete on the Student Patient Portal:

6.  Immunization Form 
7.  Tuberculosis Questionnaire   

 Not required: telehealth or mental health consent forms (only need to be completed if you plan to use these services)  

The Non-Health Sciences Immunization form- can downloaded, completed and uploaded to the Student Health Services Patient Portal as soon as possible or use the below accepted forms. They have to be reviewed and approved prior to coming to campus.   

Be sure to review the entire page for instructions, steps to complete and FAQs.  
 

Accepted immunization forms include: 

  • State forms with signature or stamped signature by a physician or nurse  
  • Physician’s form with signature or stamped signature by a physician or nurse  
  • Forms used for school immunization requirements  

 

Please be aware that you must check your Emory Email to obtain important immunization compliance information.  

To access your Emory email: 

1) Go to email.emory.edu 
2) Enter your Emory NetID and password. Emory NetID and Password Retrieval Instructions 

Emory has an additional level of security, DUO Security. 
When you access your OPUS account and Emory email for the first time, you will need to enroll in DUO.

Course Readings

Some courses may require students to read prior to the first day of their course.

Pre-College Program (noncredit)

Noncredit courses may have texts required for their course. The Course Readings list will be available in your application. We will also send this list to your email.

Students should purchase their texts for their courses before arriving on campus for the Pre-College Program. All may be ordered online. The texts will not be available locally at the Emory bookstore.

Summer College Program (credit)

Summer College students enrolled in six-week credit courses should purchase their course texts through the Emory Barnes & Noble bookstore.


EmoryCard

EmoryCard is your official Emory identification card. All enrolled students need to have an Emory Card to access buildings on campus, such as the residence hall, dining hall, libraries and other athletic and campus facilities. Visit the EmoryCard website for more information and to upload your photo.

Students will not be able to eat on campus using their meal plan nor access the residence hall without an Emory Card


Emory NetId & Password

You will need your Emory NetID and password to log in to all Emory systems. Refer to the Emory NetID and Password Retrieval Instructions.

To change your Emory password, refer to the Password Reset Instructions.


Emory Email

All enrolled students have an Emory email account. It is particularly important to check your email during before your program starts. To access your Emory email:

Emory has an additional level of security, DUO Security. When you access your Emory OPUS account and Emory email for the first time, you will need to enroll in DUO. For more information refer to Duo Security Enrollment Instructions.

It is vital that all students check their Emory email for:

  • Faculty communications about course
  • Orientation Zoom link
  • Communications from other Emory offices

Admitted International Students

All admitted international students must read:

  1. Immunization Requirements tab above for all students to ensure compliance is met before arriving to campus.
  2. All information below regarding visas, health insurance, arriving early, ordering textbooks, and having items shipped.

We advise that international students do not make travel arrangements until they have secured the appropriate travel documents and all immunizations requirements have been approved by Student Health Services.

International Students accepted to the two-week noncredit courses who are citizens of countries participating in the Visa Waiver Program may travel to the U.S. in the Waiver for Tourist (WT) immigration status. They must have an electronic passport and an approved authorization via the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA). Please consult the website of the U.S. consulate in your country for more information.

Students from non-participating countries must obtain a B2 visa from a U.S. consulate in their country. Please consult the website of a U.S. consulate in your country for instructions on applying.

Students who are dual citizens (and will enter the U.S. on their U.S. passport) or are U.S. permanent residents (Green Card holders) do not need to apply for a visa.

All international students admitted to the Pre-College Program and traveling to the United States must ensure they have a valid passport (valid for at least six months from date of entry) for travel to and from the program for the duration of the program.

All enrolled Pre-College students who will be on campus during the summer are required to be fully compliant with all required vaccines and submit an immunization form to Student Health Services.

International and non-U.S. citizens participating in the Pre-College program should have health insurance. Short-term health insurance plans may be available through these suggesters carriers: Seven Corners, Inbound Guest and HTH Advisors.
