Human Genetic Diseases
Course Overview
The DNA that makes up your genome contains the written code for you. We can understand so much about our bodies and health by looking at our genome. Variations in this genetic code make us unique, but variations also put us at risk for disease. In this course, we will understand how the information written in our DNA is decoded and how changes in this code lead to dysfunctional health. We will look at specific examples of different disorders and the genetic changes that cause them. As well as describe the genetic causes of the disease, outline how the disease was discovered, and the inheritance patterns of the disease.
