Health Care Challenges in the 21st Century
Course Overview

The US faces major health challenges – a growing crisis in mental health, rising health care costs, achieving equal access to health care services, the aging of the population, and the increasing prevalence of chronic conditions, such as diabetes and obesity, among younger populations. This course will provide an overview of these topics, identify the persistent barriers to their resolution, and discuss ways to improve healthcare delivery and the health of all groups.
In addition, we will discuss health equity issues and why certain populations are not well-served under current arrangements. We will also review the prospects of artificial intelligence to reduce costs, increase access, and improve health outcomes.
