Instructors
Michael Martin
Dr. Michael Martin joined the Oxford College faculty in 2017. He grew up in North Carolina and earned his BS in Environmental Studies at the University of North Carolina - Asheville (2008). He earned his PhD in Biological Sciences at the University of Maryland Baltimore County (2014) and served in postdocotral positions at Reed College (2014-2016) and the University of Arizona (2016-2017).
Dr. Martin is the Chair of the Tree Advisory Committee at Oxford and has helped the college earn the Tree Campus award since 2019. He also serves on the University Senate Committee on the Environment which is currently working on a Forest Management Plan update for the University.
The overwhelming diversity of life on Earth has always fascinated Dr. Martin. His research focuses on the evolution and conservation of biodiversity.
