Course Overview
In today’s world, we are surrounded by media images and online interactions. How do these affect our everyday lives, and how do we move? This course explores how media shows, shapes, and sometimes even watches how we experience life.
Together, students will analyze the presence of dance in film, television, and social media. By studying this, we will learn how movement can help build communities, represent cultures, support political causes, and express personal identity. Upon completing this course, students will become experts in how media shapes identities and social movements by writing an argument-driven scholarly essay.
Course Objectives
As mentioned before, students will learn how to approach writing a college-level, argument-driven, scholarly essay. They will practice choreographic/dance analysis and refine their ability to critically reflect upon media’s role in their lives.
