Residential vs. Commuter

 

The Pre-College Program offers both residential and commuter options. Residential students have the opportunity to experience the independence and responsibility of college life.

Residential:

The Emory residential experience is safe and secure.  Each student is given an access card to the residence hall.  No one can enter the building without an access card.  Should any emergency arise, Emory Police are always available.

  • All students in noncredit courses are eligible (Sessions A and B only)
  • Housing fee and meal plans are included in program cost
  • Reside in an air-conditioned community in Turman Hall or Hamilton Holmes Hall
  • Access to communal refrigerator
  • Pre-assigned to a residence hall and roommate by the Residence Life staff
  • Supervision and academic support provided by Resident Advisors, who are current Emory undergraduate students
  • Access to Emory’s state of the art academic and recreational facilities, including Emory's Student Center (ESC), Woodruff LibraryComputing Center at Cox HallWoodruff PE Center (WoodPEC) and Student Activity & Academic Center (SAAC) at Clairmont Campus

NOTE: We will make every effort to accommodate specific requests for special housing consideration, such as medical and/or physical needs, that are made in advance and in accordance with the protocol described in the pre-arrival documentation.

 

Commuter (Noncredit): 

  • Must live or have living arrangements in metro Atlanta area
  • Able to travel to and from campus each day for class
  • Access to the residence halls until curfew (11 pm on weeknights and midnight on weekends)
  • Participate in all activities and excursions (included in program cost)
  • Pay for own meals each day and dining options are available on campus
  • Access to Emory’s state of the art academic and recreational facilities, including Emory's Student Center (ESC), Woodruff LibraryComputing Center at Cox HallWoodruff PE Center (WoodPEC) and Student Activity & Academic Center (SAAC) at Clairmont Campus
